Jnu Correspondent

Jagannath University (JnU) student Shahidul Islam has been named in the National Cricket team for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Shahidul is a student of Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University.
On Friday the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 21-member squad for the tour of Sri Lanka. Shahidul took place in the team as a new face.
It is known that this young cricketer made his debut for Barisal Division in Bangladesh Domestic Cricket League in 2016. Shahidul made his Twenty20 (T20) cricket debut for the Chittagong Vikings in the Bangladesh Premier League on 21 November of the same year.
In the 2018-2019 season, the right-arm pacer was credited with taking the first five wickets in first-class cricket in the Bangladesh Cricket League by bowling in the central cricket team.
Shahidul Islam was the hero of Jamcon Khulna’s victory in the last over after overcoming his father’s death in the final match of Bangabandhu T20 Cup, held in December last year.
Meanwhile, the teachers and students of Jagannath University have expressed their best wishes and happiness over the news of Shahidul being called up for the national team.
Jagannath University Proctor, Mostafa Kamal said that the news of Shahidul being called up for the national team is very good news in the midst of this unfavorable situation. It is also a matter of great pride for the university. We are happy for that.
