Govt to provide everything necessary for flood-hit people : Environment Minister

Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin MP said the government is doing everything necessary for the flood-affected people. This government is and will be by the side of helpless people in any disaster including floods.

As long as there is flood, everything necessary including food will be provided. Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came to Sylhet and announced that she would do everything necessary for the flood affected people. Along with the government, Bangladesh Awami League and all its affiliates are and will be by your side.

He made the remarks while inspecting flood-affected areas in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar on Wednesday and distributing relief items among the helpless people.

The Environment Minister further said that “Our country is a flood prone area, so we have to be prepared for such a disaster,” Noting that the floods in Moulvibazar may continue for a few more days, the minister said that in case of more floods, the power supply was cut off due to submergence of power stations, so necessary equipments including matches, flashlights and candles have to be kept ready. Must have confidence and strong mind. In case of any need to contact the party leaders including the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, OC of the police station, UP Chairman.

Moulvibazar district police superintendent Md. Zakaria, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mehedi Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Kulaura Circle) Sadek Kawsar Dastagir, Upazila Executive Officer Sonia Sultana, Upazila Vice Chairman Rinku Ranjan Das, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ratan Kumar Adhikari, Police Station OC Sanjay Chakraborty, Project Implementation Officer Md. Mansur Ali, Awami League leader Masuk Mia, Kishore Roy Chowdhury Moni, Abdul Qadir Dara, Leaders of Upazila Awami League, Juba League, Chhatra League and its affiliates, administration officials and people’s representatives and others were present at the time.

It may be mentioned that the Environment Minister distributed relief items including rice, pulses, potatoes, water purification tablets and other relief items among 850 flood-affected families of Juri Upazila on Wednesday.
