Accused of rape case married victim in court

The accused got married in court after being released on bail in a rape case. The accused was produced in the Habiganj Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-2 court on Tuesday through a production warrant from the jail for the marriage ceremony.

Judge Zia Uddin Mahmud granted bail to accused Sajan Miah before the marriage ceremony. After that they sat in the court and got married. Several lawyers, journalists, police and dignitaries from both sides were present in the court at the time.

Ziaul Haque Zia, headmistress of the Habiganj Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-2, confirmed the matter and said, “The accused has applied for bail in the Chief Judicial Court.” But did not get bail. She later applied for bail in the Habiganj Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-2 court.

On Tuesday, the court granted bail to the accused’s lawyer Zahirul Haque Tuhin on the condition of marriage. The accused was produced before the court from jail during the hearing on Tuesday.

The plaintiff victim was also present. At that time, the accused agreed to get married in the court. The court then granted bail to the accused on the condition of marrying the victim.

After that, their marriage was consummated in the court with the help of the local qazi. According to the allegations in the case, the accused Sajan Mia and the girl were often rumored to be neighbors due to being neighbors of each other. Later, the girl’s parents searched for her at different places and filed a case in the court.

The court took cognizance of the case and directed the Ajmeriganj police station to take necessary action by filing a case on the basis of FIR.

After searching the place, the police rescued the victim and arrested the accused Sajan Mia and sent him to jail. The accused was produced in the court last Tuesday (May 31) on the condition of marriage after 5 long months in jail.
