4 Rohingya women arrested in Satkania

Police in a search of a passenger bus in Chittagong’s Satkania Upazila have arrested four Rohingya women with 15,000 yaba pills.

They were arrested from Janor Kenochia Temuhani area on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway on Sunday night.

The arrested Rohingya women are Md. Jafar Alam’s wife Parveen Akhtar (20), Mohammad Sajib’s wife Shafika Begum (22), Fazal Ahmed’s wife Dildar Begum (42) and his daughter Shawkat Ara (19).

Satkania Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tareq Mohammad Abdul Hannan informed that on the basis of secret information, a Dhaka-bound AC bus carrying passengers from Cox’s Bazar stopped in front of LPG gas filling station at Janar Keochia Temuhani area on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway at around 2.30 pm yesterday. At that time, four female passengers sitting next to the bus were interrogated as their behavior was suspicious. Later, on the basis of the information provided by them, 9 pairs of sandals and 15,000 yaba pills hidden inside the pipe of a trolley bag were recovered.

OC Tareq Mohammad Abdul Hannan further said that the four Rohingya women are relatives of each other. They were going to Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar with yaba pills. A case has been filed in the police station under the Narcotics Control Act. They were sent to jail by the court on Monday afternoon.
