170 teenagers learn self-defense techniques in Bhola

160 teenagers from three upazilas of Bhola have been taught self-defense (karate) techniques. Sushilan organized the training in the implementation of Plan International Bangladesh under the Child Marriage Prevention Project in Bangladesh.

70 selected candidates from Daulatkhan, Borhanuddin and Tajumuddin upazilas were given opportunity to compete at district level.

The competition was held on Saturday (June 18) at the District Shilpakala Academy. Nur Nahar, Jannatul Mika, Leela Akhter, Ananya Jahan Mim, Subaiya Akhter, Nadia Islam, Trisha Rahman and Rubina have become champions in different weights. Additional Deputy Commissioner Mamun Al Farooq handed over the prizes to the winners as the chief guest in the karate competition held at the District Shilpakala Academy.

Media personnel including Plan International Bangladesh SRHR Specialist Taufiqul Islam, Support Integration Specialist Shahidul Islam, Sushilan Team Manager Rafiqul Bahar, General Secretary of District Sports Organization Yarul Alam Liton were present. 70 contestants from Borhanuddin, Tajumuddin and Daulatkhan upazilas of the district participated.

The training has been imparted to 32 adolescents in three upazilas in 32 days for self-defense techniques, gaining self-confidence and movement and prevention of child marriage.
